In this area, you will get to know the Montessori philosophy of child-rearing and experience all these principles
in practice. You will be able to try out Montessori tools and gain inspiration
for working together at home. You will see how a child can develop and learn in such a prepared environment,
and together we will find that we (parents/nannies) are merely helpers for the children.
We will learn that it is necessary to slow down, give the child space and trust, and try to step back
as a parent.
In this area, we will focus mainly on self-care and practical skills.
Children will practice dressing/undressing, blowing their nose, putting on shoes, self-feeding, washing
hands, etc. They will try out many practical life skills such as pouring,
wiping with a cloth, transferring materials, threading, and many other fine motor skills.
We give children the space to try what we adults normally do,
letting them feel our trust that they can handle it. They will learn to work with mistakes as part
of the learning process. We will have enough time to try everything calmly and practice
so that the children can manage it in real life, where we don’t always have as much time and peace.
This area will focus primarily on the development of children’s movement skills and gross
motor skills. We will discover our bodies and how we can work with them to
develop children’s physical fitness and healthy physiological development. We will learn
to work with breath, relaxation, and calming down—skills that are important
for our mental health and well-being. We will practice coordination and balance,
strengthen muscles, stretch tight ones, and learn simple and fun
movement games that you can then do with parents or siblings at home.
